Really lovely trip on the steam locomotive from Sheringham to Holt and back again. Lots of lovely scenery to look at and we managed to get a private compartment which made it easier to look after our hyped up puppy.
Rode the Black Prince, really enjoyable, it's a full sized proper steam train, everything is in period including stations and railway staff uniforms. Well priced I felt for the experience, as we went during Xmas period even got free sherry and mince pies on the train.
This was a wonderful experience, however there are a couple of issues. The activity itself was very enjoyable, however the website is unclear and did not accurately display the change to the timetable, meaning we missed the train we thought we had arrived on time for. The staff, whilst helpful, are all of a certain older age, which gives the place a dusty, slow appearance and atmosphere. It would be good if you could buy tickets online, or preorder them to pick up at the station. The car park is extremely expensive, more so than some Norwich council parking, but the machine accepts card payments so you don't have to worry about carrying a kilo of change with you just for the parking! Overall, the negative points of the experience were outweighed by the enjoyability of the actual steam train activity.
Great family day out. Christmas trip included mince pie & sherry for adults and suitable refreshments for those underage. Staff were kind and cheerful and made the trip interesting by pointing out interesting features. We had a lovely day out, grandparents, parent and grandson, what's not to like for a group of chuffer nuts!!
Great Santa Special. The Black Prince is amazing. Lovely helpful staff. Kids always enjoy the experience. Only thing missing was the market this year...
